Do We Clean Mattresses? … Yes!
We pre-vacuum the mattress to get out all the dust and particles (you’d be amazed how much we suck up), then deep clean it with the same machinery we use for furniture cleaning.
We try and remove any stains (which is generally blood and sweat). Most of these stains, depending on the fabric of the mattress, can be taken out. Some mattresses, due to the type of fabric can’t have stains removed, but can still be cleaned.
Why Would People Need A Mattress Cleaned?
The easiest way to do that to see if your mattress needs to be cleaned is to get a hand held vacuum cleaner with a clear plastic barrel and, just run that over your mattress to see what comes up.
It’s all dead skin! Dust mites live off your skin. Dust mites poo. You breathe in their poo. If you have an allergy, you’ll be sneezing all day.
Dust mites are the worst. You can have mattress protectors and sheets on and still particles get through into the mattress. That’s why you get them cleaned.
Bed Wetting And Mattress Care
Bed wetting can be a real problem because urine soaks to the mattress material.
It should be cleaned immediately, first by padding with towels to get as much of it up as possible. Then use wet towels to dilute and draw the urine out. The mattress should be professionally cleaned as soon as possible.
If left, we may get rid of a stain but there is not much that can be done to get rid of the smell. The mattress can be can treated to a point but the chances are, if a kid or even an adult is bed wetting, the mattress will just stink and the only option is to throw it out and replace it, because the smell gets right into the fabric.
Following the steps above and calling us in to clean the mattress as soon as possible will eliminate any smell and contamination in the mattress material.

Vacuum it once a month should be enough. Then call us yearly to give the mattress a deep clean, remove the stains and dust mites to ensure you have a restful night’s sleep and wake refreshed.
How Long After A Clean Can You Sleep On A Mattress?
Like carpet, it depends on the humidity. Anything that’s wet depends takes longer to dry in high humidity. Ceiling fans are good to circulate the air and help dry it out.
Generally we clean mattresses in the morning so at the end of the day it is dry and OK to sleep on. A mattress is only just damp to touch when we finish.
At the end of the day we’ve never had anyone ring up and say, “My bed’s still wet. I can’t sleep on it.” We make sure it is dry to sleep on by the end of the day.
If you think it is slightly damp just put a beach towel down under the sheet to sleep on but normally that is not required.
How Often Should A Mattress Be Cleaned
To maintain a mattress is good condition it should be cleaned at least every 12 months. You can get it done at six months if you have allergies.
You can also use mattress covers and protectors but some are not that comfortable because they are plastic and make a crinkling sound when you move. That’s for kids with bed-wetting The cover puts a barrier between them and the mattress.
Why It Is Important To Clean Under Your Bed
I’ve moved beds when I’ve cleaned the carpet. Without a lie, the dust that’s accumulated under the bed is just thick. I’ve seen it and I’m thinking … oh, they’ve put a blanket down … it’s not a blanket, it’s a build up of dust. It is so thick I have to go through with the carpet machine just suck all this dust out. Often it can be a problem for more elderly people because they can’t move the beds. They vacuum around it but can’t move the bed to clean under it. The dust moves there and accumulates. It just keeps getting layered and builds up over the years. You could grow spuds in them, I reckon, it is so deep.
