What Is The Grout And Tile Cleaning Process?
We put a solution on the floor and mop it all over, then leave it to sit for a while. A special rotary pressure cleaner is user to water blast the floor.
Jets water-blast through small holes at the base of the machine at high pressure. It rotates, blasts the grime off the tiles at 1000 psi and sucks the liquid and grime up straight away. Once done the floor is no damper than if you had mopped the floor, often it is drier.
Anything that requires heavy-duty cleaning is done by hand with chemicals and brushes to get the grime and stains off.
Grout is porous, so it will absorb anything that’s spilled on it. If a kitchen area has been really abused, there’s a big chance that some of the stains aren’t going to come out of the grout. If that is the case then there are other options to color the grout
This guy was going to rent his place out, was moving down south and he actually, when you see this, if you look in the kitchen, you can see a very slight variation in color of the tiles before I cleaned it and that’s because he tried to use scourers to clean the floor. ‘Didn’t get anywhere with it.
When I came in and cleaned the floor the result was spectacular. It was brilliant. I loved that job. It was a big job but yeah, couldn’t believe it.
How Do You Care For Tiles?
It all depends on what type. There are marble, granite, porcelain and ceramic flooring. Porcelain and ceramic is generally what I deal with because, most houses have this type. Marble and granite need specialist care.
Do Tiles Need A Protective Coating Or Sealing?
With ceramic and porcelain, you don’t actually seal the tile. You seal the grout.
Ceramic and porcelain are very hard because they’re human made. They’re baked so it’s like a glass top over the surface. There is no need to put any sealer over them because the sealer wears off, needs to stripped then resealed again. We clean and look after the grout.
Is There A Noticeable Difference When Tile Grout Is Cleaned?
There can be a build-up of grime between the tiles and in the grout.
For example when cleaning terracotta tiles which looked like there was a pattern actually turned out to be grime. When I started cleaning it they came up as a “totally different tile”!
With mopping it doesn’t matter what you do to look after your tiles, your grout will not come up clean, because you’re leaving moisture and water which is dirty. Grout is porous so that dirty water seeps into it and discolours. That’s what makes it look so bad. No matter if you’ve got a steam mop, a mop, or anything like that then the grout is not going to get clean, because you’re only cleaning the tiles.
People sometimes get down with brushes and bleach to clean the tiles and grout but it will take them a day to to clean it to the quality I can in an hour and a half. That’s the difference between them trying to clean the grout and getting one of our professional machines.
